The above photo was taken in a corner of my dining room in the late afternoon. It was raining outside so I didn’t really have much available light. I set a vase against a white venetian blind. My intention was to show the curves from the silhouette against the light and dark stripes. The photo was cropped with enough room on the top to emphasize the opposing stripes and to create a bit of tension in the overall composition. Though the photo was not desaturated or processed as a monochrome, it appears that way due to the low ambient lighting. The vase is actually a deep green, almost jade in color. I think if I had changed my perspective so that the stripes were either perfectly horizontal or at a more steep angle, it would have been a stronger image.
